STATE OF THE UNION
Current mood: confused

i woke out of bed this morning, rubbed my eyes, a bit groggy from the night before...probably because i was up for about 7 hours just listening to a bunch of old LP's, classic records, records where there was not just one good song on the whole album, records that had songs with meaning, songs that were deep...with lyrics and melodys that moved you and made you feel ranges of emotion, whatever mood you were in not a half-ass, empty, monotone attempts to throw together some cookie cutter, sappy, un-thought compositions sprinkled with references to pop-culture, but anyway i was flipping through the channels first thing in the morning and i came across a few songs on MTV and Fuse respectively and really was hit with the feeling of dissapointment and frustration, and i ve felt this for a while but it really reached a point today!!

and i dont know about you but matt jennings and myself were at the George Clinton and The Parliment Funkadelic show on sunday night, and it reminded me of what going out and seeing live music is all about, moving and grooving and drinking and having a good time, an honestly forgetting about everything in the world good time with musicians were playing on that stage as if it was the craft its supposed to be not who can jump higher and swing the guitar around their neck in an attempt of showmanship, we all enjoy an entertainer but you can tell when its not coming from the soul....

and i guess thats what it all comes down to is soul...for you see when i make a comment about band's like Hawthorne Heights, or Fall out Boy im not saying that they have no talent (hell to make it as far as those bands have you have to atleast be able to play an instrument atleast fairly well, im just angry i guess at the fact that with the demand these days to shove so much shit down your throat in such mass quantities and as quickly as possible( ie; music, reality shows internet sites etc...) one day you will have no choice but to regergitate all you stuffed yourself with, and then will any of these bands be left standing???? chances are not because for some reason or another they're wasting whatever talent they have. they arent given the opportunity to create work all their own with soul, cause theyre all trying to hop on the whats cool this 15 minutes bandwagon...i mean do we really need 1,000 bands signed to victory or one of those labels that look sound and even literate their words the same way???and they are compromising their artistic freedom for absolutely nothing!!!! not the money because these bands are probably not even making enough money to afford to pay attention....its not the fame because how can you be famous when i cant tell you apart from the 50 other bands i just heard before you??? how does it feel to have sold your soul for nothing??? and believe you me you can most certainly tell when something comes straight from an artists soul and when it doesnt!!! and i know firsthand that there are guys in those bands who do have soul!!!

and just so you know im not specificly going after "rock" bands...i am also addressing every genre of music because the repetitivenessknows no boundaries, its the same in hip hop, reggae, country etc!!!

so to my culture, PLEASE DONT LET ME SEE A DAY WHEN HAVING A SOUL WAS A THING OF THE PAST for anything comes from the heart, will be timeless

if you have read this much i thank you for caring about my opinion, and really it is just that and i normally dont share my opinion but i couldnt help it this time, i think we have a serious culture problem that needs to be addressed, and im sorry you had to listen to me whine...hahaha
